A note from the Director of the Cultural Services of the Ministry of Education and Culture

The Ministry of Education and Culture passionately believes the arts have the power to transform lives. We also believe that the arts must be available to all of us – and this lies at the heart of everything the Cultural Services do.

Throughout the history of the Festival, we are committed to supporting Cypriot theatre artists in creating work of high quality as well as providing a platform for presenting world-class ancient Greek drama to Cypriot audiences. Through our work and the work of our presenting companies and partners we continue to grow the Festival´s reputation. Although the Festival´s budget has been considerably decreased over the years, we remain steadfast to our aim to support Cypriot artists and producers and to promote their work without diminishing the Festival´s international character. It is important to stress here that amidst the crisis our country is at the moment, it is crucial that we preserve the institutions that have been established all these years.

Finally, I would like to congratulate the Cyprus Centre of the International Theatre Institute for yet another compelling Festival as well as all the Festival´s partners and sponsors.
